What defines us as people?

Is it memories, experiences, family, and friends?

Pathways was a subtle multi-arts exploration into how dementia and ill health can affect us as individuals and families that support and give care. Through workshops with trainee doctors from Leeds Institute of Medical Education and Leeds PCC (Patient Carer Community), we worked with people living with dementia to discuss the impact the condition has on individuals and how it changes the perceptions of who we are.

The discussions then formed the basis for further exploration through drama, visual art, and poetry. During the planning of the project, we were supported with advice from Dementia Friends and The Royal Voluntary Service, who also helped to negotiate with local services to ensure appropriate participants were invited. The three day-long sessions were delivered at Inkwell Arts, North Leeds; a Leeds Mind supported Community Arts Centre.
